For people and animals
Reiki, put simply, is a form of hands on healing that originated in Japan in 1922. It's founder was a man called Mikao Usui - it is the Usui sytem of Reiki that I work with.
Reiki is a non-invasive, complementary, alternative and integrative healing practise that aims to promote overall health and well-being.
Reiki works with the human or animal to facilitate his / her own healing response.
To understand how healing works, we must first understand energy. According to quantum physics based on Einstein's work, matter and energy are interchangeable, thus everything is made of energy.
A Reiki practitioner is channelling energy to the person being treated - is it not my energy, but is the 'universal energy' that surrounds us at all times.
To understand this I highly recommend these two books for the science;
Animal Reiki Research; Implications for practise. Kathleen Lester
The Field. Lynne McTaggart
I am working hard to promote a solid, credible, science based approach to my Reiki work and am currently trialling Reiki on post op dogs to assess its impact on recovery rates.
Conditions I commonly see in my human and animal Reiki practise;
Stress and anxiety
Conditions related to stress and anxiety e.g. IBS, migraine
Pain and discomfort
Tension and restriction
Pre-post op help
Pre- post competition treatments - may help reduce stress & aid recovery
