                                                                                     REIKI FOR PEOPLE AND ANIMALS

Reiki is a Japanese system of energy healing founded and developed by Mikao Usui in 1922.  It is gentle, non invasive, complementary, integrative and holistic in its approach.

It aims to promote deep relaxation, reduce stress, pain and promote an overall sense of well-being.

Reiki works with the client - human or animal - to facilitate his/her own healing response.

" To understand how energy heals, we must first understand energy.  According to quantum physics based on Einstein's work, matter and energy are interchangeable, thus everything is comprised of energy.  At the center of each atom are waves of energy in constant motion, each carrying a vibration. Energy can be kinetic or potential. Kinetic energy is energy that has the potential to do work e.g. gravity, magnetic or energetic fields etc.
Everything is comprised of energy and energy is how we are connected to all living beings.   We have an energetic, vibrational or etheric body that extends from our physical body and it is our energetic body that interacts with other living beings. "

" Quantum physicists discovered that physical atoms are made up of vortices of energy that are constantly spinning and vibrating, each one radiating its own unique energy signature.  Therefore, if we really want to observe ourselves and find out what we are, we are really beings of energy and vibration, radiating our own signature - this is fact and is what quantum physics has shown us time and time again."   (Walia 2014)

What to expect during a Reiki session;

Whilst I tend to specialise in working with horses and dogs I do offer treatments for people at Fawkes Clinic.
I do have a particular interest in the human/animal connection so can offer on site sessions for owners/riders/tutors/handlers.

The treatment of people and animals is pretty similar although I obviously work around animals in their own environment e.g
. field, stable, living room etc.

With people I ask them to lie comfortably on the treatment couch, snuggled under blankets - or seated if more appropriate.

I then work through a series of hand placements covering key ares of the body and  chakras (high energy centres within the body located over key organs such as the brain, heart etc). With animals I feel it is very important to work a little more intuitively and often let the animals guide me to where they feel they want Reiki. There are no strict rules to energy work!

I also carry out something called Byosen Scanning which involves scanning the body with my hands to try and detect areas of 'dis-ease' or 'dysfunction'.  These areas can be picked up as sensations within my hands ranging from heat and tingling to an ache or even pain.  These are areas that require a little extra Reiki attention.

As Reiki works through the body's energy fields it is possible to work 'hands off' which is great for horses and dogs who are particularly anxious or are not used to human touch through abuse or neglect.

Reiki can even be carried out remotely - it is possible to send healing to people and animals many miles away - I use a photograph to carry out this work which was particularly beneficial during covid lockdown.

What Can Reiki Help?

Firstly I do not make claims to 'treat' or 'cure' specific conditions, and you should always consult your Dr / Vet if you have concerns about your own health or that of your animals. However, Reiki is safe and suitable for people and animals of all ages, backgrounds and with a range of conditions.  It is commonly used within oncology wards and hospices for its hugely relaxing and stress relieving abilities.  It has been shown in scientific trials in the USA to help reduce pain and inflammation,  stress and anxiety as well as aiding post surgical recovery rates.

I have a particular interest in working with horses and dogs as I find Reiki hugely beneficial to those suffering from stress, anxiety and emotional trauma caused by pain, injury, abuse or neglect.  This work not only helps the animal become happier in life, but also helps support the owner/horse/dog bond.

Horses in particular respond really well to Reiki and other horses in the area who are not being treated often gravitate towards us during a session - this makes Reiki a very benefical therapy for yards and herds.

Physical

Such as joint stiffness, soft tissue tension, injuries, post surgical recovery, digestive issues, headaches, anxiety attacks and more...

Emotional

Stress, anxiety, nervous/timid dogs and horses, coping with loss, bereavement, change of home/yard and more.....

Behavioural

Behaviour issues - a complex topic that may require more than one approach, separation anxiety, aggression, fear and more.....

Owner/dog/horse relationship

Reiki often helps deepen the understanding and bond.

Palliative and end of life support

Supporting both animal and owner during this difficult and emotional time

Reiki for People

Mental health is a hot topic right now with many people struggling with the pressures of daily life. Finances, work/family balance, social pressures, social media and the constant barrage of negative media is creating a society full of anxiety, stress and anger.
None of this is good for our emotional or physical well-being.  Long term exposure to stress can lead to physical illness such as migraines, IBS and more.....

Reiki is a wonderful therapy that helps bring about a deep state of relaxation, reducing stress and anxiety.  Many of my clients notice that with Reiki, as their stress levels drop their physical issues improve.

Cost for Reiki;

People - £46
Dogs - £45
Horses - £45
Dog + owner - £75
